Meet Our Research Team
Dr. Bonner is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Applied Disability Studies at Brock University. He also serves on the board of directors and executive committee of Values to Action, a social justice nonprofit organization dedicated to using evidence-based behavioral interventions to address society’s most common and costly problems.

Dr. Bonner earned his undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of British Columbia, followed by a master’s degree in behaviour analysis from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. During his master’s training, he had the opportunity to w-ork on the Neurobehavioral Unit at the Kennedy Krieger Institute. He went on to complete a doctorate in behaviour analysis at the University of Florida.
Since then, Dr. Bonner’s work has shown a commitment to promoting social and environmental justice.

NEST Lab Research Assistant
Milka is an M.A. student in Applied Disability Studies at Brock University and a research assistant in the NEST Lab. Her academic training includes an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Brock University, as well as a diploma in Child and Youth Care from Niagara College. Milka’s academic and research interests focus on the application of behavioural science within community-based and participatory frameworks to support individuals with diverse disabilities. Her work is informed by a longstanding interest in how neurodevelopmental processes interact with environmental and social contingencies to influence behaviour across the lifespan.

At the NEST Lab, Milka contributes to a community-engaged research project focused on improving culture and quality of life in long-term care settings. This work involves supporting the development and implementation of participatory, values-based approaches designed to strengthen social connection, enhance resident voice, and promote meaningful, sustainable improvements in community well-being.
Through her research and applied experiences, Milka has developed foundational skills in behavioural data collection, analysis, and intervention support. Her work reflects a commitment to advancing evidence-based practices that promote inclusion, dignity, and meaningful improvements in quality of life.
